Birse Rail was ‘Highly Commended’ in the Engineering Construction Sector category at this year’s RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards.
RoSPA’s national awards scheme recognises excellence in work related health and safety performance across both private and public sector organisations. The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark an achievement which is graded at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. However, the competitive Sector Awards are presented for the most outstanding performance in health and safety by a company or organisation within a particular industry sector. Entrants must be able to demonstrate a robust and high quality safety management system together with a minimum of four year’s consistently excellent or continuously improving health and safety performance.
The award was presented to Birse Rail’s Assurance Manager, Martyn Baraclough, at a ceremony at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham on Wednesday 12th May.
David Rawlins, RoSPA Awards Manager, said: “Birse Rail has shown a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its employees and others. Organisations which do this deserve to have such dedication recognised and that’s where the RoSPA Awards come in.”
Commenting, Head of Birse Rail, Martin White said: “This is the third consecutive year that Birse Rail has enjoyed success at these prestigious awards. This continued recognition is a clear indication of our commitment to improving safety performance and achieving Zero Harm in our business.”
